AGS Poll: Week 5 Top 25 Results

It was another fairly anticlimactic weekend in the AGS Top 25 in week 5 with only a handful of losses amongst last week’s top 25 – that big shake-up week is coming but it was not this week. The top 5 stayed unchanged from last week with North Dakota State coming in at #1 followed by Montana, South Dakota State, Sacramento State, and Montana State in that order #2-#5.

Teams on the move upward this week were led by Elon and Southern Illinois who each rose 4 spots to #16 and #18, respectively. Southeast Missouri State took advantage of some losses in front of them to move up 5 spots to #20. North Dakota got back into the top 25 after a one-week absence using a huge win over Missouri State to propel them up 10 spots to #21. Eastern Kentucky also climbed back into the top 25 after a week in the ORV rising up 2 spots to round it out at #25.

Conversely the teams headed in the opposite direction this week started with Missouri State who plummeted 11 spots to #19 after their loss to UND. Richmond took a 5 spot tumble to #23 after losing in double overtime to #16 Elon and Eastern Washington slipped another 7 spots down to #24 after their 3rd straight loss. Austin Peay and Furman dropped out of the top 25 after taking losses on Saturday.

In terms of conference representation the Big Sky, CAA, and MVFC led the way each placing 5 teams into the top 25. They were followed by SOCON with 3 and then Southland and OVC who each had two teams in the top 25. Once again 9 conferences were represented in this week’s top 25.

The very top stayed unchanged however as North Dakota State, Montana, and South Dakota once again claimed the top 3 spots in that order. Sac State used a dominant win over FBS Colorado State to move up 3 spots to #4 and Montana State slid back into the top 5 rounding it out at #5.

The other teams moving up were headlined by Southeastern Louisiana who vaulted up 8 spots to #13 following a thrilling last second victory over previously top 5 ranked Incarnate Word. Richmond, riding a 3 game win streak, moved up 6 spots to #18. Elon made their first appearance in the top 25 this year jumping up 11 spots to #20 after a big win over William & Mary. Southern Illinois made their way back into the top 25 after their 2nd straight win coming in at #22. Austin Peay and Southeast Missouri State each made their first appearances in the top 25 this year coming in at #23 and #25, respectively.

Incarnate Word led the teams that dropped this week as they fell 5 spots to #10 after their aforementioned loss to SLU.
