AGS Poll: Week 7 Top 25 Results

After a few pretty calm weeks we finally got the AGS Top 25 shook up a bit with 2 losses amongst the top 3 teams last week and 5 losses overall amongst last week’s top 25. For the first time this season there was a change at the top as South Dakota State assumed the #1 spot following their road victory at previous #1 NDSU. Sacramento State moved up a couple spots to #2 – their highest ranking ever in the AGS Poll. They were followed by Big Sky brethren Weber State and Montana State who moved up to #3 and #4, respectively. North Dakota State slid down to #5 following their loss to SDSU.

Other teams on the rise this week were led by Idaho who shot up 12 spots to come from the “others receiving votes” last week all the way up to #18 after upsetting previously #3 ranked Montana in Missoula. This is the Vandals first appearance in the AGS Top 25 since the spring 2021 season. Rhode Island also used a big win over CAA league-mate Elon to get back into the top 25 coming in at #22. Other than those two and the aforementioned Weber State (who moved up 3 spots) nobody moved up more than 2 spots from last week’s poll.

The teams moving down were headlined by Montana who dropped 5 spots to #8 following their aforementioned loss to Idaho. Elon took a 7-spot tumble to #21 after their loss to Rhode Island. Villanova dropped out of the top 25 after losing to Richmond on Saturday ending their streak of top 25 appearances at 45 (started in week 1 of the 2019 season). Eastern Kentucky also fell back out of the top 25 after dropping a game to Sam Houston on Saturday.

AGS Poll: Week 5 Top 25 Results

It was another fairly anticlimactic weekend in the AGS Top 25 in week 5 with only a handful of losses amongst last week’s top 25 – that big shake-up week is coming but it was not this week. Eastern Kentucky also climbed back into the top 25 after a week in the ORV rising up 2 spots to round it out at #25.

Conversely the teams headed in the opposite direction this week started with Missouri State who plummeted 11 spots to #19 after their loss to UND. Richmond took a 5 spot tumble to #23 after losing in double overtime to #16 Elon and Eastern Washington slipped another 7 spots down to #24 after their 3rd straight loss. Austin Peay and Furman dropped out of the top 25 after taking losses on Saturday.

In terms of conference representation the Big Sky, CAA, and MVFC led the way each placing 5 teams into the top 25. They were followed by SOCON with 3 and then Southland and OVC who each had two teams in the top 25. Once again 9 conferences were represented in this week’s top 25.
