Week 6 wasn’t as volatile as the past couple weeks have been but we still saw some shuffling within the AGS Top 25 as many FCS teams are shifting into their conference schedules. South Dakota State was once again the unanimous #1 taking all 50 first place votes. They were followed by the same trio as last week in Montana State, Idaho, and Furman taking the #2-#4 spots, respectively. Sacramento State climbed back into the top 5 coming in at #5.
Teams moving up this week were headlined by Montana who moved up 5 spots to #19 after a much-needed win over Big Sky rival UC Davis. Youngstown State rocketed back into the top 25 coming in at #20 after a dominating win over previously 5th ranked Southern Illinois. Central Arkansas made their first appearance in the top 25 this season at #22 and Villanova also climbed back into the top 25 to round it out at #25.
As for teams dropping this week Southern Illinois fell 9 spots to #14 due to their aforementioned loss to Youngstown State. William & Mary fell 4 spots to #18 after their 2nd straight loss – albeit to an FBS opponent in Virginia. Weber State, Elon, and UC Davis all fell out of the top 25 after taking week 6 losses.
In terms of conference representation the MVFC led the way placing 6 teams into the top 25. They were followed by the Big Sky with 5, the CAA with 4, and the SOCON with 3 teams in the top 25. Once again a new season high was established with 11 conferences represented in this week’s top 25.
