While this week wasn’t as crazy as last week there was still plenty of movement in the AGS poll, especially in the bottom half, as some surprising results over the weekend caused some major shifting amongst a few teams. The top 5, as it has all year, stayed very calm as the top 3, as they’ve been all year, remained North Dakota State, James Madison, and South Dakota State in that order. Eastern Washington and Kennesaw State swapped places again to come in at #4 and #5, respectively.
Illinois State headlined the big risers of the week moving up 4 spots to #6 after throttling FBS Colorado State. UC Davis also rose 4 spots to #13, their highest ranking ever in the AGS Poll, following a dominating win over Idaho. Nicholls moved up 4 spots as well to #17 with their first win over Southland rival Sam Houston State in 13 years. Chattanooga took the biggest jump of the week making their first appearance in the AGS top 25 this year rising 8 spots #20 following their win over SOCON favorite Samford which moved them to 4-0. Despite being idle Towson rose 3 spots to crack the top 25 for the first time this year at #23. Montana State also took advantage of losses in front of them and climbed back into the top 25 rising 7 spots to #24.
As for the teams going in the opposite direction North Carolina A&T plummeted 11 spots down to #16 after getting stunned at home by Morgan State. After that the rest of the teams falling for the week fell completely out of the top 25 as Samford, Sam Houston State, and North Dakota all dropped double digit positions settling into the ORV category of the rankings.
In terms of conference representation the CAA led the way placing a whopping 7 teams into the top 25. They were followed by the Big Sky and MVFC with 5 each, the Southland with 3, and the SOCON with 2 teams in the top 25.
